ECG to undertake nationwide meter audit from February 1st 2024

January 26, 2024

As part of measures to authenticate the integrity of meters in its operational zones, the Electricity Company of Ghana has said that it would conduct a Nationwide Meter Audit from February and will run throughout the year.

According to the ECG, every postpaid and prepaid meter’s front and back will be thoroughly reviewed as part of the procedure.

In a statement, the company urged the public to collaborate with its workers to ensure a seamless operation.

“ECG wishes to state that the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission’s LI 2413 (2020) gives us the mandate to access all our installations, anywhere and at any time. Therefore, any attempt to physically prevent or deliberately frustrate ECG teams to assess your assigned meter will lead to the disconnection of the service in your house,” the statement read.

Customers are advised to verify the ID cards of ECG teams who visit their sites to avoid imposters.

Meanwhile, the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) has stated that applications for new service, separate meter, and increased load would be transferred online through the ECG Mobile App beginning February 1, 2024.

ECG indicated in a notice that the move is part of its digital transformative ambition as well as “as ECG’s quest to provide customers with a more efficient and hassle-free customer service.”

Customers are encouraged to give correct and current contact details throughout the application process, since all corresponding responses will be made using the phone numbers supplied during the application.
