Fuel Price Surge Looms in April, COPEC and IES Forecast

The Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) Duncan Amoah, has predicted an imminent increase in fuel prices, potentially exceeding GH¢16 or GH¢17 per litre.

This projection corresponds with a comparable forecast made by Nana Amoasi VII, the Executive Director of the Institute for Energy Security (IES), in an interview conducted on Citi FM.

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has lifted the suspension on the Price Stabilisation and Recovery Levy for petroleum products, resulting in additional charges for petrol, diesel, and LPG. As a result GOIL has adjusted its prices accordingly, with petrol now priced at GH¢14.15 per litre and diesel at GH¢14.74 per litre.

This recent surge in fuel prices represents the largest increase since February 2023, when a litre of fuel was priced at GH¢15.40 and diesel at GH¢15.50
