The management of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has announced that 300,000 meters are expected to arrive in the country February 2024.
M. Hady Sheriff, Executive Director of the Commercial and Regulatory Division at the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), told the media in Monrovia that the company’s goal is to provide stable and accessible electricity service delivery to its valued customers.
He said that LEC remains dedicated to proactive efforts that improve power supply dependability, particularly during hard seasons such as the dry season. Meanwhile, management is committed to delivering a steady and accessible electricity supply, especially in the face of potential challenges from power theft across the country.
The Corporation, Sheriff said, is committed to providing effective and efficient power distribution services to its consumers, and noted that the LEC is mandated to create and provide affordable, efficient, and reliable electricity to the whole nation.
According to him, the corporation’s financial viability remains on course while improving and expanding the network to meet the future demand for electric energy in Liberia and improving the socio-economic development of the nation.
The LEC experienced a huge setback during Liberia’s civil disruption when the country’s hydropower plant was damaged throughout the years. With the help of the Liberian government and its donors, as well as foreign partners, LEC is rebuilding the power sector.
